Video Tips

• Know your legislator and address him/her directly in the video. You can find your state legislator by going to: http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/ Since we are addressing the state budget, we generally encourage you to address your state senator or representative.

• Introduce yourself and how you fit into the developmental disabilities community.

• Briefly explain your current services and what they mean to you.

• Give a brief description of the cut(s) you are concerned about and how those cuts will affect you, your family and/or people you care about. What will these cuts mean for Oregon as a state?

• Explain to your legislator what you believe will happen if you/someone you care for loses their services. What will life look like? What’s the real impact?

• Keep it under two minutes.
